All new patients will receive an e-mail with standard office policy and paperwork pertaining to your or your child’s past psychiatric, medical and family history. If you are unable to fill this out in advance, please arrive at your initial appointment 15 minutes early to complete the paperwork.
Your first one or two appointments will be a comprehensive evaluation. You will have the doctor's undivided attention. He will ask questions to obtain a thorough history of the presenting issues while simultaneously getting to know you as an individual. By the end of the evaluation/consultation, he will conceptualize his understanding of the problem and provide treatment recommendations. You will have the opportunity to provide your own perspective on the issues and treatments to allow doctor to adapt his recommendations to personalize you care. Most importantly you will get a sense as to whether he can be a helpful presence in your life. To maximize your time, it is important to fill out all paperwork prior to the first appointment.
After the initial comprehensive evaluation/consultation which is one to two sessions we will decide if we are a good fit for each other and at that time the patient physician relationship will be established.
Follow up appointments are usually 25 or 45 minutes depending on whether we are doing medication management or psychotherapy. Each patient is to be seen at minimum every three months for follow up.
